EA Sports FC 24 is available on a wide variety of platforms, with a release date set for the end of September. The game formerly known as FIFA has historically been accessible on the vast majority of gaming setups. If gamers use it, the football simulator is probably on it. 

Does that include Steam Deck? The game is compatible with Steam, which is typically used on a PC or even a Mac. Does their handheld gaming device support EA Sports FC 24?

Can a Steam Deck run EA Sports FC 24?

In short, a Steam Deck will be able to run EA Sports FC 24. Valve Steam Deck is the official console of Steam, the gaming service. Technically speaking, all Steam games can be run on the console. Everything from Red Dead Redemption 2 to EA FC 24 can be played. That includes the EA games they have. 

However, that’s not to say it will run as well as it could otherwise as compatibility issues may arise with older devices or bigger, newer games. The Steam Deck is not the most powerful console out there. Much like its handheld counterpart the Nintendo Switch, the console is lacking in some areas. 

The game is playable, but it might not be as smooth. Furthermore, it is not considered a next-gen console like an Xbox Series S or a PlayStation 5. 

That means that it won’t have cross-play. Steam Deck users will be restricted from playing with other gamers on the service. Steam has plans to make a better Deck in the future and give it a significant boost in horsepower, but that day has not yet come. 

For now, yes, Steam Decks can run EA Sports FC 24. Whether or not it will be an optimized gaming experience remains to be seen since the game is not out yet.
